Threatening Letters Against Muslims Has CAIR On Alert

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Islamic groups across the state are responding to threatening letters they received over the weekend.

Officials from the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) here in Sacramento say centers in Los Angeles, the Bay Area and now Fresno have all received threatening letters in the last few days.

Those letters called Muslims "vile and filthy people."

Officials say they're doing everything they can to keep area Muslims safe.

"For example, security at the mosques and other places of worship," said Muhammad Saifullah, an outreach coordinator with CAIR. "We've actually been doing a lot of know your rights training."

Northern California CAIR officials say they have not received any specific threats.

So far, the FBI is not investigating these letters.
