Olivehurst Girl, 16, Killed In Crash In Linda Area

LINDA (CBS13) – A 16-year-old girl has died after a crash in Yuba County Thursday morning.

The scene was near Feather River Boulevard, south of Grand Avenue in the Linda area.

California Highway Patrol says the girl was driving her 1999 Ford Escort when she lost control, causing the car to cross over into the path of a 2007 Chevy Tahoe being driven by 65-year-old Sapeti P. Aiono. The Tahoe then broadsided the passenger side of the girl's car.

Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts, but the girl was soon pronounced dead at the scene. Aiono was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

CHP says drugs or alcohol were not factors in the accident.

The girl's identity has not been released at this time.
