Drive-By Paintball Shooting Injures 2 In Midtown Sacramento

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — Sacramento police are looking for a suspect who shot two people in midtown with a paintball gun from a moving car.

One of the victims had to go to the hospital for treatment.

Police say the Midtown attack at 21st and J streets Friday night is an isolated incident.

The attack comes after some 200 reports of paintball attacks across the country. Some law enforcement officers attribute the high number of paintball attacks to popular rap artist "21 Savage," who made a public call for "guns down, paintballs up" to curb gun violence.

Craig Palmer owns a Sacramento paintball gun store and says he has a standing reward of $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest in any paintball-related felony.

"As far as somebody shooting somebody, I see it as assault," Palmer said. "It's no different than walking down the street and punching someone in the head."

Sacramento police say they don't have a suspect description. The suspect vehicle was a light-colored sedan.
