Verlander Too Much For A’s To Overcome In Game Five Loss

While the San Francisco Giants were extremely lucky to not have to face their opponent’s best pitcher in the playoffs this week due to a random injury, their counterparts in the East Bay were tremendously unfortunate to see the best pitcher on the planet twice — so it didn’t end well for the Oakland Athletics Thursday night, as they lost Game Five of their playoff series to see their season end all too soon.

No one should ever doubt the 2012 Oakland Athletics again, not after Wednesday night’s three-run ninth inning that shocked the Detroit Tigers and even up the teams’ American League Division Series at two games apiece. Game Five will be Thursday night at the O.co Coliseum, with the winner advancing to the AL Championship Series.
