The team will pay tribute to the life and career of baseball pioneer Jackie Robinson. That night is also the first of many fireworks shows. Sacramento Earth Day will be held on Apr. 24 at Southside Park from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The annual event is hosted by the Environmental Council of Sacramento. The Sacramento Zoo will hold Star Wars Day on Apr. 30. Zoo visitors have an opportunity to take pictures with their favorite characters from noon to 2:00 p.m. There are also stage shows and crafts that families can enjoy. For those families who are not Star Wars fans, Rancho Cordova will hold its 27th Kids Day at Hagan Park on Apr. 30 from 11:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The theme this year celebrates Rancho Cordova as a "great place to grow." It is an event intended for parents with children 12 and under. There will be plenty of activities and fun for the entire family to enjoy. More than 5,000 people attended the event last year.

The Sacramento County Fair will be held at the Cal Expo during Memorial Day weekend. The theme this year is "Let's Eat, Have Fun & Celebrate the Red, White & Blue." The event is presented by the 52nd District Agricultural Association and is dedicated to educating attendees on agriculture, business and technology. Some of the premier events taking place include a bull riding competition on Saturday and a junior livestock auction on Sunday. There will also be carnival rides for children of all ages to enjoy.
