Are you as graceful as Fred or Ginger on the dance floor or does the Chicken Dance’s flapping motions give you problems? Both twinkle toes and confirmed klutzes are welcome at Elk Grove’s Releve’ Dance- Wear Company where friendly and knowledgeable staff are ready to help.
When the shop opened in November 2008 the owners did a survey of their clients to decide what merchandise to stock. Ballet remains among the most popular of the dances. Releve’ offers a full range of attire for the beginning, corps de ballet and prima ballerina.
Wear Moi, the French dancewear company created and owned by two former dancers, can be found in many styles and sizes at Releve’. Leotards designs such as “Titiana”, “Calista” or “Flora” offer delicate looking yet durable canvases for the body to look beautiful as its wearer performs a Grand plié, Grand jeté or a Grand Pas. The elegant sweep of the Arabesque position is heightened by wearing a long and sheer ballet skirt.
Many flock to the store for the vast variety of Danskin tights, multi-colored tutus or the one of Leo’s Illusions the power mesh upper with a suede pad necessary for executing bare-footed dance steps. Ballet sweaters and leg warmers are also popular items for keeping muscles flexible.
Before the Releve’ staff will sell a dancer pointe shoes, they will determine from a dancer’s experience what type of shoes will work best. They sell high-end shoes from manufacturers such as Gaynor-Minton and Russian Pointe.
For jazz dancers, there are several designs available like Oxford lace-ups and slip-ons. And of course thanks to the renewed global interest in the art/sport of ballroom dancing many now want to glide effortlessly to a syncopated rhythm. Keeping in mind the best shoe to appear fluid has a suede bottom.
Beside dance attire the shop also stocks attire for gymnastics and cheerleading. Popular for both sports are the boy cut shorts called “spankies”, many designs include those with sparkles!
POWERBows are another necessary equipment on any cheer squad. Not only do they keep hair neat, but also offer a uniform look to everyone. Designs range from a patriotic red, white and blue with rhinestone stars to a basic mega bow in many colors or a specially ordered bow with the name of each team member embroidered on it.
Revele’s attire will never fail to impress – even if your fancy footwork still needs help.
