The economy is producing lots of deals on everything from A to Z… but you can still look fantastic and get great women’s clothing at a discount. Marianne McClary, anchor for Good Day Sacramento has compiled a list of her favorites!

If you haven’t been, this is where Nordstrom stores send one-of-a-kinds, end-of-the-sales and a couple of things just because. You’ve got to look past the oft-disorganized round racks and hunt for those bargains – and yes, they are there. I’ve found designer clothing and shoes for less than half of the Nordstrom tag, and pretty good deals on jewelry – not to mention the occasional tie for hubby or home décor item for myself – uh, I mean for gifts. And, you can use your Nordstrom card, gift cards, and rewards coupons here, too, for added savings. Also a great place for finding shoes size 10 and up, ladies!

They have clearance centers in Florida and Virginia – I can only imagine the deals there. But still – Loehmann’s in the Sacramento shopping center bearing its name has some great deals, if you’re willing to hunt. It’s not a huge store, so it won’t take long, but you’ll find designer clothes and likely marked down even further. It no longer offers the “Back Room” where the price of luxury finds on the cheap meant stripping down in front of the other women shoppers, but it’s still a fun shopping outing.

Freakishly, everything I’ve ever gone looking for at one of these two stores, I’ve found. Got five minutes to find a trifle bowl? Done. Inexpensive trinkets for a girls’ get-together gift bag? Check. My favorite clear nail polish at half the price? Wow! I have to drag myself to the check-out counter before I do too much damage. Stay focused, and think stocking stuffers!

I dropped in here recently for the first time in ages. Looks like they’ve changed from New York chic, to urban chic – but there are still elegant and affordable deals to be found. Sign up for their insider emails and get deals not available to the general walk-in public. I love looking through the sale racks in the back, and don’t skip the shoes! Most everything is great quality – I have shoes and jewelry I’ve worn for years from this store, and just bought a suit I love to wear.

Macy’s Country Club Plaza

Sacramento, CA 95825

I know, I know, it’s a department store. But I’ll tell you right now, and I tell my friends and family (no pun intended) you can’t beat a Macy’s sale. With all the in-store discounts, coupons in the mail, credit card use discounts, they practically give the stuff away. This particular store at Country Club Plaza is what I consider “my” Macy’s, because it’s close to my house… it’s not too crowded… and it has the “One of A Kind” rack back in the corner on the first floor where you can often find amazing deals, sometimes from designers. You’ll find a better selection of designer duds downtown, but take advantage of the easy parking and check out Country Club!
