SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — A woman is in critical condition after police said she got out of a car on Highway 160 and was hit by another car Saturday evening in Sacramento.

Sacramento police said the woman was not pushed or forced out of the vehicle, but the exact reason for why she left the car is unclear.

The woman was a passenger in the car that also had a child in it.

Officers said drugs or alcohol do not appear to be factors.

Police said the woman is alive but in critical condition at a nearby hospital.

Southbound Highway 160 near the Del Paso Boulevard on-ramp has reopened following the collision.
