Best Places For A Fall Marriage Proposal In Sacramento

As the leaves begin to fall, you realize it is the season of change, and you are ready to begin the next step with your other half; it is time to consider the proposal. Those who have gone before have used planes with banners or skywriters; they have proposed in the car, in the house and in the yard. However, this is the era of the selfie, where everything is recorded and shared on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram or Pinterest, to name a few. So how can you make a fall proposal that will stand out, be remembered and get the answer you want, all in one? There are many times of year that Old Sac has events such as Mardi Gras, Sacramento Music Festival, Theatre of Lights, Labor Day Weekend, etc. You might consider working your proposal around one of those events. However, one of the most romantic rides in Old Sac runs year round, and that is the Carriage Ride. The rides are offered by private coach operators, and you should call ahead to make special arrangements. A unique setting is The Tower Bridge, overlooking Sacramento at sunset. If your intended enjoys a sunset, this might be the best place to pop the question. On the list of National Register of Historic Places, the bridge reminds us of our rich heritage in the gold rush days, and is painted gold. A Sacramento icon, the bridge stands over the Sacramento River.

The American River Bike Trail

If your intended loves the outdoors and cycling, this might be the ticket for you. The American River Bike Trail runs for 32 miles from downtown Sacramento to the city of Folsom. You could stop in a number of the shady places along the trail and pop the question, some overlooking the beautiful river. In addition, if she is cycling in the annual Princess Promenade Bicycle Ride, you could consider meeting her at the finish line with ring in hand.

The Hornblower offers a one-hour cruise throughout the year. The ship travels past many historical Sacramento sites such as the I Street Bridge, the Tower Bridge and the Delta King. The tour includes historic stories of Sacramento beginnings such as the first days of the Gold Rush and the Pony Express. Annually, the Hornblower has a cruise on New Year's Eve to watch the fireworks. A proposal with the fireworks as the background would definitely be memorable.

The California State Capitol Museum houses the World Peace Rose Garden, which will give you numerous sites to choose from. The garden has sections dedicated to specific types of roses, as well as to celebrities we all know and love.
