SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — An overturned big rig snarled traffic along northbound Interstate 5 near Arena Boulevard.
The accident happened just after 1:30 p.m. Friday, according to California Highway Patrol. Two semi-trucks collided, causing one to overturn, spilling diesel fuel on the roadway, complicating cleanup efforts.
The driver of the big rig has been taken to the UC Davis Medical Center for minor injuries suffered in the crash.
Three lanes were reopened around 4 p.m., but the crash is having a ripple effect on traffic in the area. Motorists should avoid the stretch of freeway if they can, or expect heavy congestion and delays.
