Sacramento County Elections Mistake Will Cost Taxpayers $68,000

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — Taxpayers will have to pay tens of thousands of dollars for mistakes made by the Sacramento County Elections Office.

The county failed to include the state Democratic party's list of endorsed candidates in a sample ballot sent to registered voters. The Republican and American Independent endorsements were included.

The elections office will now have to mail out a card with the omitted information to nearly 700,000 voters.

The cost of the printing and postage is expected to be about $68,000.
