Baby Justice's Father Says He's Standing Behind Samantha Green As CPS Prepares Files

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — CBS13 spoke to the father of Baby Justice, the infant who was found dead last week in a Knights Landing slough.

Frank Rees was behind bars on Monday on charges unrelated to the case, and he says he hasn't spoken with Samantha Green, his girlfriend who is now facing a possible murder charge in the infant's death.

Child Protective Services in Yolo County has a case file on Baby Justice. While those files are typically kept private, they're currently looking into what can be released in the wake of the infant's death.

Green was arrested over the weekend for the death of Justice after investigators said allegations of an abduction just didn't add up.

Sheriff's investigators say they spoke to a large number of people about the death of Baby Justice, including the baby's father, Frank Rees.

He's behind bars at the Yolo County main jail on three misdemeanor warrants unrelated to the murder of his little boy. Those included driving with a suspended license, skipping out on a court appearance, and a DUI charge.

Unable to post $120,000 bond, he sits behind bars and stands behind Green. He told CBS13 in a jailhouse interview where cameras weren't allowed that "I know she's not capable of hurting the baby intentionally," and "She was an amazing mom and loved that baby with her whole heart."

Regarding the time of his arrest, Frank Rees argued that it "isn't f------ fair" because he has a funeral to plan for his infant son.

Yolo County Sheriff Ed Prieto didn't mince words when we asked if he considered holding off on picking up Frank Rees for his warrants in the wake of his child's death.

"You know, I have so much information on this young man it's hard for me to be extraordinarily sympathetic," he said, adding that he had plenty of time to clear up his warrants and stay out of jail.

Green will face a judge on a murder charge on Wednesday.
