10. California Man Allegedly Cooked Ex-Girlfriend's Dog, Fed It To Her

Ryan Watenpaugh's ex told police he'd repeatedly struck her while they were dating and that after one assault, she left her Redding apartment and returned to find her Pomeranian, "Bear," missing.

9. Sacramento Security Guard In Jail After Chasing Suspected Thief Who's Walking Free

A security guard is behind bars, while the suspected thief he was trying to stop is free.

Police say Jack Wong should have just called 911. Instead, he caused a costly collision into a Sacramento home.

"I was at work at the SD Mart, and somebody stole a gold watch from Gold USA," he said in a jailhouse interview.

Now the man who is paid to stop thieves from stealing is behind bars after the way he tried to protect his store.

8. Man Found Shot Dead In Car At Sacramento In-N-Out Burger

A man has been found dead in a car next to the In-N-Out Burger in the Arden Arcade area from an apparent gunshot wound Tuesday night.

Investigators say the man was found sitting in the driver's seat by the restaurant at 2001 Alta Arden Expressway. A male went into the In-N-Out Burger asking for help for another occupant inside the vehicle.

7. Call Kurtis: Google Has My Financial Aid Money And Won't Give It Back

Sacramento City College student, Alex Delgado, should be studying. But, instead he is making yet another call to Google.

"Why can't you return my money?" He asked Google's customer service representative. "Is there a way you can give me my money today?"

Alex transferred all his financial aid into Google Wallet; it's a mobile payment system.

He said its debit card and mobile app helped him track his spending.

Then, without warning, Google Wallet closed his account.

6. King Fire Update: Blaze Encroaching On Highway 50 As Crews Fight To Keep It From Jumping

As the flames pushed closer and closer to Highway 50, more families were forced to pack up and head out in a hurry.

Hundreds of people in a California town have no water after wells ran dry during the state's drought.

The small town of East Porterville in Tulare County has about 7,300 residents, and at least 300 homes have been without water for weeks.

"We can't shower. We're wearing dirty clothes. My kids had to wear dirty clothes to school this morning," said Elizabeth Baker. "I had to go across the street last night to get water for my kids from the fire department."

4. Is This You? Gas Station Surveillance Video Reveals Stockton's Latest Lottery Millionaire

They don't have a name, but the gas station showed CBS13 surveillance video of the woman they are sure is the lucky lottery winner. We've blurred her face to protect her identity until she comes forward.

 

3. Man Arrested For Arson In Connection To King Fire

Wayne Allen Huntsman is charged with one count of arson of forest land for willfully and maliciously setting a fire, according to a criminal complaint. He also faces a special allegation of arson with aggravating factors because the blaze east of Sacramento put a dozen firefighters in serious danger, forcing them to deploy their fire shields. They all escaped unharmed.

 

2. Brown Vetoes Bill Limiting Drone Surveillance

Gov. Jerry Brown vetoed a bill that would have placed strict limits on law enforcement agencies using unmanned aerial drones for surveillance.

The governor's office announced that the bill was one of more than a dozen pieces of legislation he vetoed.

1. School Bans Orangevale Sixth Grader's Sept. 11 Tribute T-Shirt, Calls It Dress Code Violation

A young girl was told by her school that she couldn't wear a T-shirt to pay tribute to the lives lost on Sept. 11, 2001.

School leaders say they have a good reason for banning the sixth-grader's Sept. 11 memorial T-shirt on Thursday. When her stepfather tried to get permission, school administrators say it violated their dress code.

"Wear it to honor what had happened on 9/11 and all the people that have perished and the lives that were changed on that day," said Tim Foster.
